Vehicle Compliance
Understanding VLT Compliance:
When installing any window signage or tint, including Flexy Glass panels, it's essential to ensure compliance with Visible Light Transmission (VLT) regulations.
VLT refers to the amount of visible light that passes through a vehicle’s window—measured as a percentage.
Each state or territory in Australia has specific VLT requirements to ensure driver safety and legal compliance.
At Flexy Glass, we take VLT regulations seriously. Our panels are designed to maintain visibility from inside the vehicle while showcasing vibrant, high-impact graphics on the outside. This ensures your vehicle remains road legal and safe for drivers and passengers, all while promoting your brand.
Failing to comply with VLT laws can result in fines, vehicle defect notices, or even insurance complications. That's why we work closely with our customers to ensure every installation meets or exceeds the local standards.

How Flexy Glass and VLT Work Together
Flexy Glass panels are made using 50/50 perforated vinyl, meaning the material is 50% solid vinyl and 50% micro-perforated holes. This design allows stunning full-colour graphics to be seen clearly from the outside while maintaining visibility from inside the vehicle.
However, because the panel covers the window, it does reduce the Visible Light Transmission (VLT) by approximately 50%. That means if your vehicle window originally has a VLT of 40%, applying a Flexy Glass panel will effectively reduce it to around 20%.
To remain compliant, the window being covered must have a minimum of 40% VLT before installation. This ensures that after applying the Flexy Glass panel, the window still meets the legal light transmission requirements—keeping your vehicle both safe and roadworthy.
